In my blog last month, I said I might take a break in March. I did, at least from birding and photography. Between the rain and physical therapy, I decided to stay in and get some things done. I got a new laptop which took time to set up. I started preparations for coordinating the spring butterfly/dragonfly survey for PV/South Bay Audubon (coming up in April). I gave a presentation and taught nature journaling at an elementary school. And, I did a bit of 'quick' art. Although I do not have many photos to show, I did photograph an Allen's Hummingbird through my front window as it took shelter from one of the storms. Another day, as I walked back into my house from my car, I saw a West Coast Lady butterfly, one of my favorites, and a Black-tailed Bumblebee. I went in and grabbed my camera. I spent a little time in my yard looking for insects. There were not many insects, but there were a lot of worms. Somehow I have less interest in photographing them. At the end of the month I reconnected with my birding pals to look for and find an Orchard Oriole. It was a quick trip. Several of us discussed the perils of aging and the impact on getting out. I hope this changes in the coming months.
Get outside. It's good for you!
