Seals and sea lions while closely related, are often confused. This one is a seal. Harbor seals, and all marine mammals, are protected in the U.S. against hunting, killing, capture, and/or harassment by the Marine Mammal Protection Act of 1978.
These harbor seals make a home at the end of Pier 400 in San Pedro.
