Inktober is a month-long art challenge that is focused on improving skill and developing positive drawing habits. Every day for the month of October, anyone participating in the Inktober challenge creates an ink drawing and posts it online. Everyone has set their own 'rules'. There are 'prompts' provided for those who wish to use them, but I found that too stifling. For me, it is daily practice, creativity, and ink only (a variety of different types of ink). I found some days I just needed to DO SOMETHING, anything. Other days I had more time, felt more creative, and had more motivation.
So besides 31 pieces of art, as I reflect back, this is what I achieved/learned:
1. I used and appreciate almost all the forms of ink I possess. I see from others that there is a lot more to explore.
2. I know that I like color and texture, so the acrylic inks were my favorite.
3. I discovered that I can use many types of ink like paint. I hope to use some of the 'painting' techniques with other media.
4. I need to do more freehand drawing to improve. A daily practice is a good thing. Posting for the world adds a bit more pressure. I will not be posting every day.
5. The challenge did make me think creatively and think outside the box. I think that will help going forward.
6. I am glad to have done it, and am glad to be done with it.
Thanks to all for encouraging me.
