"Hemiptera" means "Half-wing".
The forewings are 'hemielytron' in that half the wing is leathery and the wing tip is membanous. They have a characteristic V shape as the wings cross. The hind wings are membanous. Their mouthparts are elongated into a slender beak from rear of head. These are the "True" bugs.
