Subfamily Myrmicinae - two nodes on the petiole

Native species. A primary food source of the coast horned lizard. Argentine ants are responsible for a decline in population of this ant, which in turn impacts the population of the coast horned lizard. Havester ants are seed eaters.

The smaller Argentine ants are attacking.
