A remora and stalked parasites on the back of the Blue whale - Balaenoptera musculus

Blue whale - Balaenoptera musculus with hitch-hikers.

The single black object at the base of the dorsal fin ("hitch-hiker" is a remora (shark-sucker), a fish that uses its sucker-like dorsal fin to catch a ride with the blue whale and eat occasional scraps. A cluster of stalked parasites (barnacles and/or copepods) are attached to the tip of the dorsal fin.
